Description Unknown 2002-04-26 14:47:13 UTC
As notice of additional comments come out via email in IssueZilla, there is no
indication in the email message other than the URL that the recipient of the email
message should enter their replies directly into IssueZilla, and not just type
them into a "reply" to the email message.

A short sentence along the lines of:

To reply to these additional comments, please go to this URL and enter your
answers" might help those who are not familiar with the protocol of IssueZilla
or your project.

 This makes sense. Louis?
Comment 2 lsuarezpotts 2002-07-15 22:28:30 UTC
Hi
yes, it makes lots of sense, especially as I and Stefan end up being
the persons who notify the poor souls who respond to the email of what
to do.
I however cannot change this; Stefan was working on a script that
could do it. But a better solution might just be to use maddog's. This
means requestign an enhancement with CN.
I'll pursue that avenue.

Reassigning this RFE to support.
Support: Many people are filing issues now and we are receiving a
dozenn bogus replies to the IZ mail that is automatically sent out.

Please file an enhancement request with PCN addressing this
characteristic.
thank you,
Louis

Louis: how does Sun want to do this?
They could request a change the help section documents so their users
who file IZs know to keep checking back with their issues, or do they
want an enhancement request so the IZ emails have a preface stating,
this email is from IssueZilla, your ticket has been changed or modified?
Comment 5 lsuarezpotts 2002-12-11 19:20:23 UTC
Hi, Kenneth.
What we want is to have in IZ-generated mail, the mail that you
receive when you file or update an issue, a message in the subject:

"DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE"
That should do the trick.
For right now, many people *do* respond.
thanks

Comment 6 Unknown 2003-01-07 18:35:19 UTC
Louis/Stefan: making this change would require a change in the
instantiation and would be considered a customization. I can file the
enhancement request, but given our resource load, and the type of
request (a non-urgent customization) I would suggest waiting for the
2.5 release which has more admin-configurable options.

Action plan:
1) I'll test 2.5 to make sure this works in it
2) If it's included, I'll mark it so in this IZ
3) if not, then I'll file an enhancement request for this version of
OOo and file a RFE against the future version as well

Timeframe:
I'll update this IZ by 1/15/03
Comment 7 Unknown 2003-01-13 22:44:17 UTC
PCN 13859 has been filed for this enhancement request. I will continue
to research to see if the next version of SC has this specific
functionality already built in.
Comment 8 stx123 2003-02-26 15:43:54 UTC
Hi Kenneth,
any news whether this is in the next version of SC?
Thanks, Stefan
Comment 9 Unknown 2003-02-27 01:41:32 UTC
the enhancement request is currently in consideration and will be
reviewed and assigned to a future release, yet to be named.

I need some more time to test the configuration options in the scarab
to verify that it's configurable with out a one-off in the next
immediate release. I will finish testing the component tomorrow and
update this IZ by the end of the day 2/27/03
Comment 10 Unknown 2003-02-27 21:52:30 UTC
after testing and confirming with the engineer in charge of the scarab
behavior, I have found out that the email notifications content is not
accessible or configurable to the admin through the UI in the next
immediate version of SC/scarab.

However, when OOo is getting ready to upgrade, the appropriate Sun
contacts (ST/MH) can work w/ the appropriate CollabNet staff to review
current wording in issue notifications and make appropriate changes at
that time as possible instantiation changes.

Note: the PCN for this enhancement request will be slated for a future
release of SC that has yet to be named.

Could you please update status whiteboard as soon as the release
containing this enhancement has been determined.
Feel free to mark as resolved/later in the meantime.
Thanks, Stefan.
Comment 12 Unknown 2003-02-27 22:53:36 UTC
changing status whiteboard, resolving as later
Comment 13 stx123 2004-01-08 08:57:21 UTC
Just a quick note: some time after the initial request we are now able to
customize the notification emails.
Comment 14 diane 2004-01-08 12:23:49 UTC
There is now a message included with the automatic Issue Tracker email messages,
which tells folks not to respond directly to the message and redirects them to
the issue report. Yet some folks still respond directly to the messages. Would
it be possible to move the blurb from the bottom of the auto-generated messages
to the top, maybe to somewhere around the link to the issue? Maybe they never
scroll down far enough to see the message that is there now? It seems to be
missed where it is now.
Comment 15 Unknown 2007-03-07 12:12:03 UTC
Updating the target milestone and the whiteboard .
Comment 16 Unknown 2009-01-19 12:15:22 UTC
st,

It is possible to change the email notifications for IZ by following the steps
given below:

1. Go to http://<projectname>.openoffice.org/issues/edittemplates.cgi.
2. Choose "'New/changed issue' notification template" to edit.
3. Add the required text at the top of the message body in the template and save
changes.

Hope this helps.
