Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 44103
Impossible to set Column width of a single-column table
Last modified: 2014-05-02 06:58:43 UTC
- Create a table width only one column - Go to one of the UI function : Table>Autofit>Column width or Context-menu-for-table>Column>Width - Set a new column width - Validate - No changes at all !!!!
MRU->OS: when a table only consists of one column (wether the alignment is automatic or manual), it is not possible to change the width via Autofit/column dialog.

I successfully replicated the bug following xylamouf's steps on: - Windows XP SP2, OOo 2.0.1 - Linux (Red Hat 7.3, kernel 2.4.31), OOo 2.0 Additional notes: It's also impossible to resize the width of table of two or more columns. 1. Create a table with two columns 2. Menu INSERT->TABLE->OK (default size of columns and rows should be two) 3. Select-Focus the entire table (Drag the mouse and select all 4 cells) 4. Menu TABLE->AUTOFIT->COLUMN WIDTH and set the width to 1" Expected output: all four cells of the table become cells of width 1" But instead only the left cells reduced their size to 1", while the right cells become wider. Same problem happens with table of 3 or more columns, only 1 column changes size.
chang_carlos for the issue you described in additional notes, see also issue 32001.

Well, it IS possible to adapt column width of a single column table, but the proceeding is bumpy, without logic, unpredictable with "AOO 4.1.0 Release – German UI / German locale [AOO410m18(Build:9764) - Rev. 1589052 2014-04-22 11:43:54]" on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)", “historic” 4. User Profile used for all predecessor versions: 1. New Writer document with 1 column 2 rows Table 2. Table: 'Rightclick -> Table -> Table -> Alignemnt (radio button) = from left' 3. 'Columns (Tab) -> Adjust Table width = on -> Column width = 10mm -> [ok]' > Table with column width 10mm at the right. But many other attempts will fail
