Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 45106
Allow embedding of fonts in text document
Last modified: 2005-08-06 18:02:44 UTC
Often there are special fonts coming with special software. If you move text formatted with such a font onto another computer without this font, there can be formatting problems. Therfore allow embedding of (true type) fonts in a document like Word does. G. Marxen
Reassigned to requirements.
I would also like to see more support for embeding fonts into OpenOffice.org documents. At least into text documents and presentations. This is often needed if you move documents to another computer and also need high fidelity for fonts.
Note that font embedding is critical in some cases, such as scientific texts that use special fonts for mathematical symbols. These documents become unreadable (or worse yet, misleading) when default fonts are substituted, so it's pretty much impossible to share such documents in the OpenOffice formats, or to take them with you on the road without carrying a preconfigured laptop.
