Description tillowski 2005-03-24 14:21:46 UTC
The default language in my OO installation for documents is "English (UK)",
though directly after the installation it used to be "German (Germany)". I have
installed the dictionaries for English, German, Swedish, French, Catalan and
Spanish using DicOOo v1.41.
I'm working on a document in OO v2.0 Beta, created with OO v1.1.4, which has
English (UK) as its default language, autospellcheck is switched on.
Everything already existing in the document is correctly recognised as being
written in English, but all the new paragraphs I add have, if checked in the
paragraph style, "English (UK)" set as the language, but still almost all words
are underlined in red by the autospellchecker and the autocorrect suggestions
for the words are in German.
I've tried several times to choose different languages for the document and the
paragraphs and then to set it back to English - the problem persists, the
program seems to regard these paragraphs internally as German though English is
selected.
The only solution I could find is to right-click on an underlined word and
choose "Paragraph is English (USA)" from the context menu. Then the spellcheck
for this paragraph really is in English (USA) (although in the paragraph style
still English (UK) is selected). Unfortunately this has to be done with each
paragraph manually.

I have solved the problem now in a not completely reproducible way, but I have
the following assumption:
The problem occurred in every file I created or edited in OO 2 beta.
Now I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the program and during this
process I have noticed that in my dictionary.lst file I had accidentally
specified the dictionary for German three times:
DICT de DE de_DE
DICT de DE de_DE_neu
DICT de DE de_DE_comb
In the new installtion I've deleted two of these lines and so I haven't
encountered the problem anymore.
Later I've tried to add the two additional lines in the dictionary specification
file again, but still couldn't reproduce the issue I had faced previously.

I've continued working and had to realise that the problem is unfortunately
still not solved. If I start writing a new document it's only a matter of time
until the problem appears again, sometimes it has even started in the middle of
a sentence - the first part is correctly recognised as being in English, after
that everything is 1underlined in red and considered as being incorrect, German
alternative spellings are being suggested.

Please attach one of the documents where the spellcheck stopped working.

Sorry for not answering before, in the current beta release the problem already
doesn't occur anymore.
