Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 46139
Table row does't break across pages if text exceeds a single page
Last modified: 2005-03-30 10:19:41 UTC
If the text in a single row of a table exceeds the length of a page, the text starts greying out in the bottom margin and then the cursor travels in the 'no man's land' between pages. Unchecking 'do not split table' option or checking 'allow rows to break across pages' has no effect. This I have observed in versions right from 1.x series to the newest 2.0 beta.
I cannot reproduce it (m89). Please attach a sample document.
I am also not able to reproduce the problem. As ES proposed, please attach a document which shows the problem. Feel free to reopen the issue when you have done so. thanks for supporting us!
I am attaching the file with two rows / columns in both native and MSword format. If the file is opened in MS word and in table properties 'allow row to break across pages' is selected, it correctly breaks across pages. In OOo, neither the heading repeats on the next page, nor the row breaks, but second page gets created anyway.

Afterthoughts I have mainly worked in FC1,FC2-versions upto 1.1.3 from their rpms. But I have observed this also in Knoppix, Suse9.1 and FC2 with 2.0 Beta and of course in Windows XP
I do not have any problem with the document. You have to check the "allow row to break across pages and columns" option in the table properties and you will see the table break onto next page. This of course will only work in OO 2.0; OO 1.x didn't have this feature. See issue 2109 for further information.
