the mail queue needs to be cleaned up/reduced ASAP so the mail generated by the
nntp import stops flowing out.

Assigning this to support (myself).  I checked with the operations
group, and they say the qmail queue has shrunk by nearly half in the
last 7 hours or so.  They are going to try to work some dequeuing
magic a bit later, and are going to try not to touch any "real"
messages slipping through.

Oops, sorry, spoke too fast.  Our operations group says that it's too
dangerous to dequeue any messages, as headers can start accidentally
getting matched up with the wrong bodies.  They say that by tomorrow
morning, the flow will end.

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate
issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is
unfortunately to set them to verified.
