Description uhu_buhu 2005-04-13 12:03:23 UTC
1. I increased the zoom factor to 110 percent in the options section
(subcategory Open Office, then view) of Writer.
2. When returning to the writing, the text was not displayed properly. It either
did not display the typed text or scrambled the font (Georgia).

hello uhu_buhu,
which version do you use? (it cannot be 2.0..)
Comment 2 flibby05 2005-04-24 13:55:45 UTC
reporter says it is 2.0,
as 2.0 final is not released yet i assume it is 2.0beta.
IZ however does not offer 2.0beta for this issue :-(
Comment 3 ace_dent 2006-02-05 22:48:39 UTC
Changed Component from '*Testproduct' and reassigned Owner, to move this Issue
forward.

->'uhu_buhu', please provide more information. Does this problem still occur
with a more recent version of OOo 2.0.1?

Regards,
Andrew

Reassigned to SBA.
Comment 5 kpalagin 2006-09-15 09:55:52 UTC
I can reproduce it with OO 2.0.4 RC1 on Vista and m180 on Win XP:
1. Open Writer, set font to Geogia.
2. Type couple of lines of random text.
3. Go to Tools, Options, OO.org, View and set Zoome to 110%. Click OK.
4. Type more text and note how it is distorted. See attached "garbled-
zoom110.gif" - area circled in red contains text.
5. Minimize, maximize Writer and note how text is displayed just fine
(see "redraw.gif").

I can confirm the test of user "kpalagin" repeatable.
Similar results - REPEATABLE.

However.

After the phases 1-5 I continued the test.
6. Close document
7. new document (Font Times New Roman)
8. type random text
9. see same result, the text is distorted
(see screenshot "TimesNewRoman.PNG")

Repeat test with font "Verdana".
=> again distorted test.

Repeat test with other fonts.
=> again distorted test.

SO. The main thing is to set Zoom to 110.
Tools => Options => OO.org => View => Zoom => 110%.

To be precise what I used
- WIN XP Professional version 2002 SP 2 + updates
- OpenOffice 2.0.3 OOC680_m7 Build 1 (Tue Jun 29 16;19;13 CEDT 2006) (Finnish
version)
- OpenOffice Finnish proofreader: oo2-soikko-Windows-1.1.1.exe

SBA: I can NOT reproduce this on my machine (win 2000, OOo 2.04).
(A) This looks like an does-not-ALWAYS-happen thingie.
(B) You are talking about the change on the UI Zoom factor (NOT the document Zoom!).
Now c'mon, and be serious: How often do people change the UI Zoom factor in real
life? Right now we are talking about a single repaint error that occurs once the
ENTIRE UI is re-calculated that is not even ALWAYS taking place.
(Personal note: You should praise the developers that you don't have to reboot
to get the desired result, Haha! :-)

Now seriously: I do believe that there is bigger fisch to catch than this.
Target set to OOo later, Prio to P4. As far as I can see the state of boredom
among the Writer developers, this is VERY close to "WONTFIX". But all OOo
communiy developers may feel free to deal with this one.

SBA->FME: Please pile this one up :-)
Comment 11 stefan.baltzer 2006-10-02 16:33:11 UTC
SBA: Set target.

This Issue requires more information ('needmoreinfo'), but has not been updated
within the last year. Please re-test with one of the latest versions of OOo -
the problem(s) may have already been addressed. Either use the recent stable
version: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html
or consider trying the new OOo 3 BETA (still in testing):
http://download.openoffice.org/3.0beta/

Please report back the outcome so this Issue may be closed or progressed as
necessary - otherwise it may be Resolved as Invalid in the future. You may also
wish to search for (and note) any duplicates of this Issue that may have
advanced further :
