Hi Soeren, The diffs are fine. However, for the AD/BC change you should file a bug against the CLDR, since I just aligned OOo data to CLDR, and updating it from there would overwrite the corrected data in OOo again. To file the bug please go to http://www.jtcsv.com/cgibin/locale-bugs and precede the bug's subject line with the locale in question (da_DK, fo_FO). Always good are references like standards issued by the government, online or as a book, that you could include in the description. Thanks Eike
OK, I filed bug #656 in CLDR. Thanks Søren
For clarity: the CLDR bug's URL above should be http://www.jtcsv.com/cgibin/locale-bugs?findid=656 instead of the automatically generated intra-IssueTracker link. Thanks Eike
Hi Soeren, This was a misunderstanding. CLDR has only abbreviated era names, whereas OpenOffice.org locale data also contains full names, which were BC/AD, and I thought that also CLDR did. Sorry for the inconvenience caused by this. I already left a comment in the CLDR bug. So is it right that both, abbreviated and full names, are identical according to your patch? Eike
On branch cws_src680_localedata4: i18npool/source/localedata/data/da_DK.xml 1.9.4.2 i18npool/source/localedata/data/fo_FO.xml 1.2.4.1
Yes, the full "før Kristus" (BC) and "efter Kristus" (AD) is seldomly used similar to "Anno Domini" is seldomly used in English. Adding gaute to cc: since he should know that p. and pp. can be changed to f. and ff. I guess p. and pp. should also be changed in the Norwegian locales. Thanks, Eike.
Soeren, Well, seldomly used doesn't necessarily mean that we should suppress it and offer the abbreviated form also for the full name. It's true that many locales have equal forms there, but this is more an oversight and rarely on purpose, I guess. If a user likes to choose the long form, why not offer it. If you want me to add the long form I'll do so, as a service, just because I brought this topic up ;-) Eike
I fear we are already wasting valuable time on this ;-) BUT when and where is AD/BC used in OpenOffice.org?
Small changes like this can be made on the fly if the file is touched anyway.. the eras are available in number format codes, GG displays the abbreviation, GGG the full name.
