Description colman 2005-04-17 03:18:27 UTC
After editing a file A and saving it the file could not be reopened. After a
while a window popped up for recoverable files the next time OO would start.
However the file name was not shown in this window. Another file B that was open
at the time file A was saved could also not be opened anymore.

Both files were showing some problems during editing: while editing suddenly
already text got broken up into pieces and spread out over several largely blank
pages. At the end of the problematic area, in the lower right corner a small red
arrow head got depicted (meaning unknown to me). In this area formulas also got
deleted.

I could not delete the blanks spaces without selecting across the problematic
area and deleting everything in between. After that I was able to edit the file
normally but as said the file A could not be reopened after saving it.

I will attempt to open the documents with a later version of OO to see if the
problematic files can be opened.

please attach document where the crash can be created with to this issue, so
that we can reproduce and fix the problem here. You can also send the document
directly (mru@openoffice.org) for the case it contains confidential data. Feel
free to re-open the issue when you've done.
Thanks for supporting us!

Resolved wrong issue. Reopened now.
Comment 4 peschtra 2005-04-24 01:29:13 UTC
So, what is the issue here? Is it that the crash recovery is broken, or is there
something wrong with the file or the save button? This seems very unclear.

Or, looking at the error, could there be a problem with the Visual C++ library
on the computer.

Did we get the file yet or any more info?

Marking as invalid until we can get more clarity on the problem or a copy of the
file.

Clarification: this isue is either related to a) the VisualBasic library (see
jpg file) or b) to issue 44924 on which I also submitted an issue. In the latter
case, when I make changes to the formulas of a document which can still be
edited, and save it after a few minutes, I cannot reopen it anymore.

I will provide the problematic file on tomorrow.
Comment 7 michael.ruess 2005-04-25 08:05:48 UTC
Yes, please provide the problematic document; otherwise we will not be able to
reproduce ther problem.

The "Runtime error" displayed on the screen shot is a different problerm
(insisted by the crash reporting tool). It is already tracked somewhere in
"Framework" component.

Reopend.

MRU->ES: the xml code of the files seems to be corrupted. Please have a look.
The documents will be provided via Mail.

ZZIP file with three files of which 0.71 cannot be reopened
Comment 11 colman 2005-04-26 18:31:17 UTC
This comments are associated with the attachment: corrupted_documents.zip.

The 0.71 version cannot be opened. The 0.69 and 0.67 versions are also attached
which have problems related to issue 44924.

In the 0.67 version you can see these problems on pages 19 through 24 where
after editing some formulas a lot of white space got inserted in the document
around the formulas, I think due to issue 44924. Note that there is also small
red arrow at the bottom of page 20 which got inserted by OO after I edited
formulas. After I removed the white space I saved the file as 0.69. Further
editing of formulas in 0.69 caused the same problems as in issue 44924. Then I
saved the file as 0.71 which I could not re-open anymore.

Thanks for taking care of this.

ES->DVO: loading 0.71 (see attached zip file) causes OOo to freeze and takes a
lot of CPU.
Comment 13 colman 2005-06-15 03:54:59 UTC
I haven't had this problem anymore with load m104, possibly due to the fact that
44924 got resolved.
Comment 14 peschtra 2005-06-15 04:41:07 UTC
As per user comment, I am closing the issue.
