Use an excel file as a datasource. (Register a database in OOOBase that is 
connected to an XLS file).
Create a datapilot whose source is the registered xls database.
Build the datapilot table. (so far so good)

Update the XLS file (ie change some values in the source database)
Press refresh on the datapilot.
--> the data is not updated.
