Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 48412
Committed CVS file not showing live
Last modified: 2006-11-06 18:36:10 UTC
I committed the new revision for http://www.openoffice.org/copyright/copyrightapproved.html as follows: Revision: 1.252 Date: 4/28/2005 4:33 PM Author: ejrenaud Comment: 4/28 update As of 8:41 PM, the version has not shown on the live site. Please investigate.
confirmed. Louis
I have to add http://about.openoffice.org/index.html
I can confirm that the latest version of the copyrightapproved webpage is showing live. I cannot confirm on Stefan's addition, so will leave this issue open.
St: I was not able to replicate the issue. When tried to commit the file in a test project I was able to see the updation in the site as well.I need further clarification on your comment on this issue. Also ejrenaud mentions that the revision number is getting displayed properly. Aarthi-Helpdesk.
support, the issue is not that regular cvs files are not being published, but that those that are staticized are not being published in a timely fashion. Thus, you would not have noticed anything amiss if you published something in a test project unless that test project's files were staticized, which I would guess they are not. So, try a staticized file. Try http://www.openoffice.org/about.html (superseded by about.openoffice.org). the CVS address is www/www/about.html Thanks! louis
Have filed an internal ticket for this issue. Will update as soon as I get information from them. Aarthi-Helpdesk.

hi, Could you please tell us how long it takes for the revision number to get updated in the live site.In other words the time lag if any for the revision number to get updated in the live site.As our engineers will require this information to go ahead with the debugging for this issue. Thanks. Aarthi-Helpdesk.
It took more than 30 minutes before an update of http://about.openoffice.org/index.html was visible. Pages used to be updated with 1-3 minutes and I would expect not more than 10 minutes.
adding self to cc Some pages take inordinately long. This page, www/www/index.html has taken several hours (over 5) recently. louis
The ops have have made some changes on our side which should have helped. Could you please try now & verify? Thanks, Karishma-Helpdesk.
assigning to ST to try sooner than later. best louis
For about/www/index.html it took more than 40 min from the commit $Date: 2005/05/19 08:45:07 $ $Revision: 1.15 $ until it was visible: Date: Thu, 19 May 2005 09:26:02 GMT
Have updated the internal ticket. Will get back to you with the response. Thanks, karishma-Helpdesk.
to give an idea of some of the waits.... I committed about/www/index.html at PDT 16:42 (-0700) and now, at 22:09 PDT it's still not publishing. Something seems amiss. Louis
The engineers are working on the issue. Will update you with their response. Thanks, Karishma-Helpdesk.
The engineers were not able to replicate the issue, as the page reflects changes in seconds. This might be a problem with browser caching. While the engineers are still woking on the issue, they have given a work around to try "SHIFT+F5" (for IE) or "SHIFT+CTRL+R" (for firefox). This invalidates the cache and forces the browser to get latest file from server. Please let us know if the workaround helped. Thanks, Karishma-Helpdesk.
No, your workaround doesn't help. Feel free to use about/www/index.html to evaluate the problem. I produced revision 1.18 at $Date: 2005/06/07 21:58:17 $ This version replaced 1.17 for the first time at Date: Wed, 08 Jun 2005 09:07:09 GMT To reproduce you could change the file, commit to cvs and run wget --server-response -alog -O- http://about.openoffice.org/index.html until you receive the new revision. This will tell you that the static file is updated once a day by the nightly re-rendering but not on cvs change.
karishma, to second ST's point, the engineers may have been working with non-staticized files. As the issue here is with staticized files, they need then to work with those that are staticized. ST has suggested which to examine. The priority on this issue is p3. I am very tempted to raise it to p2. thanks, Louis
Louis, The engineers are working already on the staticized page http://about.openoffice.org/index.html , the same one as mentioned by ST. Have raised the priority of the internal ticket to P2 to have this issue resolved asap. Thanks, Karishma-Helpdesk.
thanks! cheers, louis
changing to P2 to reflect the severity and PCN priority
The staticized pages are now getting published within 1-3 minutes. Have tested this with about.openoffice.org/index.html . Please verify if the other pages are also getting published normally. Thanks, Karishma-Helpdesk
A static page from the download area worked fine for me.
Seems to be fixed. Thanks, Stefan
karishma, what was done? My impression is that the cycle only speeded up because summer is here and OOo is generally faster as fewer are accessing the site. Louis
Louis, There are various reasons why the publishing was delayed. Primarily, there were a few errors in the publish.logs . Other possible reason is due to delay in CVS update caused by stale locks. There were also some permission problems with static-hack dir. The engineers have fixed the errors & now publishing works fine. Thanks, Karishma-Helpdesk.
Could we mark this issue as Closed.
