Description chriscuk2 2005-05-01 10:15:27 UTC
When you save or autosave kicks in the refresh after save jumps to where the
cursor is.

If you've just opened a large document (60+ pages in my case) and are just
checking through it when autosave saves the doc you will be sent to where the
cursor is which is often right at the start, at which point you have to trawl
through you document trying to find where you were.

I think the program should really remember what you're viewing not just where
the cursor is.

This is very annoying in very large documents.

I wasn't sure which sub-component to put this in, I've dropped it in UI for now.

Chris.

->maxweber: do you mean a duplicate of issue 47364 or issue 43146 (just to add
to your bookmarks ;) )? If yes, I don't think it's a duplicate because here it's
not about loading a document but saving it (so we also should consider this
cursor behavior when fixing the mentioned issues BUT it's not the same problem)

->chriscuk2: anyway, I cannot reproduce what you describe. The view remains the
same while saving even if the cursor is set at a position out of the view.

->maxweber (again): can you confirm/deny this?

I've just tried it with a short new document and the problem does not seem to
exist over 3 or 4 pages, but if I open a large document (82 pages, lots of
pictures, tables and graphs) then the problem is still apparent.

Maybe it's the document size or objects that cause it but it may take some
research to find out?
