Description roberfo 2005-05-12 16:26:47 UTC
SUBJECT: Missing Graphics when Importing odt Document into Template
PLATFORM: Windows XP
BUILD: 680m100
COMPONENT: Writer

This particular issue may be reported under other circumstances. However this is
how I was

able to reproduce the problem consistently. I have included the subject document
and

template as well as the step-by-step instructions to reproduce the missing
graphics problem:

1- Open the Missing_Graphics-Test.odt template
2- From the drop-down menu select Insert > File...
3- Double-click the Subject_Doc.odt

This will Insert the contents from the Subject_Doc.odt at the beginning of the

Missing_Graphics-Test.odt template, forcing the pre-existing content below the

newly-inserted content.

As you scroll back toward the top of the document you will notice that several
(not all) of

the inserted graphics are missing. Most of the missing graphics are subjects
that happened

to land on, or very near the page break. However, this is certainly not the case
with all of

the graphics as some are missing from the middle of the page; no where near the
page break.

# Additional notes: #
#####################
1- This particular document was ported from version 1.1.4 some time ago.
2- Further, the majority of the graphics were embedded in the document using the
Insert >

Picture > From File method.

I do not know if these details will have any bearing on your verification of the
issue.

I and my team have a handful of very important issues that occur frequently.
Reproducing

them consistently is a challenge. ;-) However, we are working on providing as
much valuable

feedback as possible.

Thank you for all of you hard work!

Sincerely,

Robert Follett

Reassigned to ES.
Comment 4 eric.savary 2005-05-13 10:25:05 UTC
ES->DVO: as described: some objects are missing (empty frame or showing error).
This concerns all OLE objects and some graphics that look like (according to
their context menu) Draw object.

This only happens doing Insert - File.
Loading the document (Subject_Doc.odt) directly doesn't show the problem.
Comment 5 openoffice 2005-06-09 17:58:48 UTC
dvo: The missing graphics are indeed draw objects. The 'real' graphics work just
fine.
Comment 6 andreas.martens 2005-06-28 16:35:42 UTC
Redistributing dvo's issues.
Comment 7 andreas.martens 2005-07-06 11:43:23 UTC
Yes, we reproduce this problem. It occurs not with "normal" graphics, only with
graphics we got from the drawing module. And there's a work-around, you could
copy the file content and paste it instead of insert/file.
Regarding our resources and criteria for OOo2.0.1 I've to retarget this issues
to OOo Later. We have to fix this problem for OOo3.0, of course.

Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
