Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50441
Formula font size should alwasy follow font size of the previous text
Last modified: 2005-07-04 18:08:19 UTC
When used in regular text the font size of a formula automatically follows the size of the previous text. However, I have found two exceptions in non-regular text: 1. a formula in a table will not follow the font size of the previous text in the table 2. The same happens for formulas in footnotes. This should be resolved as it results in odd sizing of fomrulas relative to text.
> When used in regular text the font size of a formula automatically follows the > size of the previous text. Your initial observation is already wrong. It does not follow the font size of the previous (or surrounding) text! You can see this easily if you change the font size of the text document to 24pt and then insert a formula, or if you select all text (CTRL-A) and then change the font size. The font size in the formula does not change accordingly. It just happens that the default font sizes in a text document and a formula happen both to be 12pt. Thus im flagging this as invalid. However since this would be a nice and reasonable behaviour to have you may change the issue type to "Enhancement" and pass it on to "requirements" (which is the account to gather all suggested improvements) if you feel it should be improved that way.
I think issue 26446 can fit to your request. If so, please close this issue.
This is a duplicate of issue 26446: "inherit font size of formulas from paragraph". I knew I had already seen this wish. But, yes, I also support the notion of styling in-text formulae with the surrounding text. If you want to support issue 26446, vote for it. Thanks for reporting this, anyway. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 26446 ***
