Description marknewlyn 2005-06-12 03:57:36 UTC
Hi

I find that in both Impress and Write the superscript hot key works perfectly
(CONTROL+SHITF+P) but the subscript hot key replaces my selected text with an
underlined, bold, capital B instead of making the selection subscript.

I checked Tools->Options->Keyboard and the settings are correct. So I don't know
if there is a problem with the choice of keys - shouldn't work for superscript
then or if somewhere there is a mapping problem? I didn't modify any settings so
teh default doesn't work.

Cheers,
Mark

hi marknewlyn,

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice.org...

I got the same problem on FC3 on Gnome and on XFCE...
This works on KDE...

steps to reproduce:
- select a word
- [ctrl] + [shift] + [B] to set the selected word to subscript
- >the selected word switches to an underlined capitalized "B"
- [ctrl] + [z] to undo this
-> the selected word appears followed by the underlined capitalized "B",
      the word is still selected...
- type the arrow right button to leave the selection
-> the selected word including the underlined capitalized "B" switch to a little
rectangle...

As discussed with us I tried this again with setting SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
==> this works as expected...

WORKAROUND:
- select the word
- Format -> Character -> Position -> Subscript -> OK

as discussed with us: prio4, target 2.02

Hi pl,
please have a look at this issue, thanks...
Comment 2 philipp.lohmann 2005-06-13 11:48:42 UTC
seems to work quite well in m106
Comment 3 mci 2005-06-14 06:37:42 UTC
Funny...

This is clearly reproduceable here on FC3 at US's or my PC in m109...
Comment 4 philipp.lohmann 2005-06-14 10:45:13 UTC
installed a fresh FC3 and can now reproduce the bug.
Comment 5 philipp.lohmann 2005-06-14 12:38:48 UTC
That's a feature of the input method on FC3 (iiimf); you can press hexadecimal
codes with ctrl-shift and commit (with enter) the corresponding unicode.

There's nothing we can do in that can do about that currently as we currently
cannot check whether a key is a shortcut without dispatching it, therefore the
input method must get all keyevents first. As a workaround i recommend
configuring another shortcut for subscript.

This is duplicate to issue 50547 as the cause behind the two issues is the same.
