Description vogella 2005-06-16 12:13:49 UTC
Hello,

If I import two document at once a in masterdocument the order in which they
are included is revised.

Example:
Create two docuement 1.odt and 2.odt. Create one masterdocument. Include both
files. The file dialog shows: "1.odt" "2.odt".

I would now expect that the document is imported first and then the 2.odt.

But the order after the import is 2.odt and then 2.odt. I believe this is a
bug.

Best regards, Lars

Reassigned to ES.

It's a known issue.
Unfortunately, the Navigator cannot get the order the selection has been made in
the Insert dialog.
This is a WONTFIX because CANNOT fix.

But there is a order. For exampel if you mark first 1.odt and then 2.odt while
holding the ctrl key they are selected correctly.

The file name becomes: "2.odt" "1.odt"

Only if I used the mouse the file name selector always becomes "1.odt" "2.odt".
So I believe if you would be able to change the sorting of the file selected by
the mouse then the import would be correct.

after further testing:
The inserted file order (2,1 ) DOESN'T correspond to the selection order (1, 2)
when using the OOo dialogs (Tools - Options - General - Open/Save dialogs - Use
OOo dialogs). This regardless if the selection has been made with the keyboard
or the mouse.
When using the system (Windows) dialog, the selection order is respected.

Which dialog do you use?

I use the (Windows) dialog.

The list of files is processed in the order the file dialog provides the documents.

I run into a very similar problem. I insert some (sub)documents into my
master document and after insertion the 1st subdocument becomes the last one!
Of course I checked the order in which the subdocuments are selected and
they are in the right (alphabetic) order.

The documents are sorted alphabetically, and are all called very similar like:
bf1030, bf1034, bf1035 and bf1039. After insertion the order is:
bf1034, bf1035, bf103 and bf1030.
I hope this information helps to find the root cause of the problem.
