Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 50938
An installer of StarSuite 8 Beta can not go on with an installation process
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:26:47 UTC
Phenomenon: The installer stops its activities when the progress bar points at 1% and will never do anything until killing a process of the 'pkgadd' command. Reproduction: 1. Prepare a machine running Solaris 10. 2. Create a local zone following instructions at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1592?q=create+zone Or just find a machine in which a local zone already exists. 3. Run an installer of StarSuite or StarOffice in the global zone. Internal Activities: An installation command 'pkgadd' stops and waits for user interactions even though the installer has been started with an 'admin' file to suppress user interaction. If you try to use the same command as the installer does from a command line, you would be prompted like this: === # pkgadd -a /tmp/admin.2199 -d /var/tmp/unpack_starsuite/packages SUNWstarsuite-core01 ...(omitted)... Installing Core module for StarSuite 8 Beta as <SUNWstarsuite-core01> ## Installing part 1 of 1. 67307 blocks ## Executing postinstall script. Installation of <SUNWstarsuite-core01> was successful. ## Installing package <SUNWstarsuite-core01> in zone <a_name_of_one_of_zones> Core module for StarSuite 8 Beta(i86pc) 8.0.0,REV=84.2005.03.04 The selected base directory </opt/starsuite8-beta> must exist before installation is attempted. Do you want this directory created now [y,n,?,q] === What is going on: - OS of the machine is Solaris 10. - The OS environment of the machine consists of a global zone and local zones. - When a user starts an installer of StarSuite / StarOffice in the global zone, the command 'pkgadd' will install a package into the global zone as usual and then subsequently will try to install it into individual zones. - The target directory '/opt/starsuite8-beta', however, does not exist in the local zones. - Therefore, the command 'pkgadd' needs to ask if the user wants to create it. Reference: Please refer to an option '-G' in the pkgadd(1) manual page at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/816-5166/6mbb1kqb9?q=pkgadd+-G&a=view Possible options: - Adding an option '-G' to both 'pkgadd' and 'pkgrm' commands.
.
Created attachment 27303 [details] Illustrates the situation the installer stops its activities.
Installing in a local zone only is not the common case. it needs a new dialog in the cnpsdk.
