I was trying to use the XSheetPastable interface. as given in the API. but was 
not able to use it as it is not implemented.

It would be great to have this feature.

sw->jayant_madavi: this interface is deprecated and so it is unlikely that
someone will implement it :-)

sw->jsc: I wonder if there are any consideration to provide a mechanism to do
copy/paste in all applications via a proper UNO-API interface instead of the
current way to use the dispatch api

I wonder sw, jsc even the depricated implementation is also not available. or I 
could not locate :(

probably XSheetPastable was never implemented, it is not unnsed anywhere nnot a
paramater of return type nor as a reference in a service.

We should propbably think about a common API for cut/copy/paste but that would
be a new task.
