Description scarr 2005-07-15 16:11:54 UTC
If a user clicks on the Search area, and enters a search for HOWTO, they should
see various HOWTO files that exist on the Documenation Project. The search
should bring the to the HOWTO page, or other various areas on our site.

The result, nothing is returned. There isn't a single document or page that is
returned, except for some Mailing List items.

Is this a problem with the Search functionality on CollabNet?

thanks

Collabnet search engine has never been really accurate. Searching, say, a
particular page inside an NL project is difficult.

Hi
sorry, been on vacation....

Support, can you see if the problem initially described is updated/resolved in subsequent builds?

Louis,

Accepting the issue. We are researching on this and will respond you soon.

Comment 5 Unknown 2005-07-25 22:06:07 UTC
Louis,

The search area looks for a specific word as typed i.e. 'HOWTO'. When we search
for this string, it shows the results of the related mailing list.

We found the documents related to the search 'HOW TO' and not "HOWTO". Please
try to search for the "HOW TO" which shows the related documents in the projects.

Please verify and let us know if you have any clarifications.

Thanks,
Kavitha-Helpdesk

support, I'm redirecting this to the original filer of this issue, who is of course the person most interested
in your response. In future, please consider directing comments not to the messenger (in this case, me)
but to the original filer.

thanks

If I type "HOW TO" as a search for the documentation project, I still do not
recieve any HTML Content files.

I would expect a Search like that to return results from the following page
within the project:

http://documentation.openoffice.org/HOW_TO/index.html

I do not receieve any of these documents in the Site Search.
Comment 8 scarr 2005-07-25 22:46:56 UTC
As another test, I went to http://api.openoffice.org and searched for "HOW TO",
and came up with 285 "HOW TO" documents from HTML Content section.

The search I used was:

http://api.openoffice.org/servlets/Search?scope=projectAndSubs&resultsPerPage=40&query=HOW+TO&Button=Go

Is there some setting in the documentation project for these results to be
returned properly?

Thanks
Comment 9 grsingleton 2005-07-25 23:00:10 UTC
I would like to comment on the search mechanism. It is not very good. Try
searching for manuals. None of the user guides show up. These are in
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/index.html. Likewise searching for
User guide also turns up nothing. Something is definitely wrong here. While we
are at it searching the mailing list fails regularly and when it does work sorts
only one page of the earliest submissions.
Comment 10 grsingleton 2005-08-26 13:34:20 UTC
Re-assigning to Louis, at his request, for escalation.
Comment 11 lsuarezpotts 2005-08-26 18:18:51 UTC
support, would you be able to look into this? It's fairly important. Let us know if this problem is
immediately resolvable or is resolved in a subsequent update to SourceCast. I don't see a PCN issue
number; has one been filed?

Cheers

Comment 15 Unknown 2005-09-05 23:14:59 UTC
Kcarr,

Engineers have updated that changing the charset from "win1250" in
formulario_consulenti.html file ('it' project, 'marketing' folder) to a valid
charset like iso-8859-1 and susbsequently running the full indexing for
apache/content would fix the problem.

CONTENT="text/html; charset=win1250" has tobe changed to
CONTENT="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"

Can you please confirm us whether we can make the changes as above and can
commit the file (or) you can do the same.

Thanks,
Kavitha-helpdesk
Comment 16 scarr 2005-09-06 13:57:13 UTC
I don't believe I have access to Marketing, to change items, but I believe Louis
does. Louis?

This issue is more than just this file though, on the documentation project we
rarely use CharSets, because the site is already setup for the charset we need.
Why is documentation not being indexed, as well?

Thanks for your help on this.
Comment 17 lsuarezpotts 2005-09-07 03:43:45 UTC
this is actually in the IT project, support, and Kcarr does not have privileges there. Support, what is the
correct cvs path? it/www/marketing/formulario_consulenti.html file?

And you wish for the IT project lead to change the charset to latin-1 or utf-8. Okay. I can make the
change but would rather the relevant lead did.

Am assigning this to davide dozza & riccardo losselli.

Louis
Comment 18 Unknown 2005-09-09 18:14:24 UTC
Louis,

it/www/marketing/formulario_consulenti.html file - yes,the cvs path is correct.

also for the IT project does the lead has to change the charset to latin-1 or
utf-8. The user can use UTF-8 which is supported.

Thanks,
Kavitha-Helpdesk
Comment 19 Unknown 2005-09-23 04:20:39 UTC
Louis,

Please let us know whether the lead has resolved the issue with the provided
solution.

Comment 20 grsingleton 2005-09-23 13:01:08 UTC
Better but does miss the user guides in
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/index.html and many of the how-tos.
how can we improve our end so the search is more successful?
Comment 21 stx123 2005-09-24 09:13:41 UTC
By proxy for the Italian project I corrected the charset of the mentioned file
as requested by Kavitha.

Comment 23 grsingleton 2005-10-06 03:10:14 UTC
Yes it does still exist. Major complaint on the users list.
Comment 24 lsuarezpotts 2005-10-15 03:25:13 UTC
support, please provide update on this. This is very important.

Andreas, this issue merits serious attention; its continuation is hampering work and gaining a lot of
unwanted attention.

Comment 26 Unknown 2005-10-17 19:08:51 UTC
Engineers have tried to verify the search of 'how to' for the HTML content in
the project 'documentation'. We are able to view the results for the same.
Please verify and let us know in case if you are referring to a different project.

Thanks,

Comment 27 scarr 2005-10-17 23:31:37 UTC
I just tried some searches and everything appears to be working on the Doc
project for HTML Content. From what I understand, there was a couple of Native
Language sites that were having the same problem.

Gerry, can you verify this on Doc as well?

Thanks for everyones help on this.
Comment 28 lsuarezpotts 2005-11-28 16:13:29 UTC
Hi
reassigning to gerry for verification

Comment 29 stx123 2006-01-11 19:26:47 UTC
As verified by Scott this seems to be fixed by the change of the page in the
Italian project.
Comment 30 grsingleton 2006-11-13 13:38:27 UTC
Sme old story. Please see if you can put the fix back in. We would like our docs
to show up in a search.

Reset assignee on issues not touched by assignee in more than 2000 days.
Comment 33 Marcus 2013-08-05 14:52:12 UTC
The issue is obsolete. At Apache there is on one OpenOffice project.
