It would be nice if one could set as a default that when Writer opens it does so
with the last document used already open.

As not everyone would want such a feature, it could be a setting in the
configuration setup.

Framework issue.

Shouldn't this be covered in Tools.Options.View.Restore?

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice.org...

I think this is not a defect but an enhancement wish
I'll reassign this issue to requirements who is responsible for such issues...

I do not believe that that is a good idea. This one click to "recent documents"
should not be too much work, but I would not like it if OOo starts automatically
with the 2000 pages master document I finished last day ;-)
And if I edited 4 documents in time, with which should OOo start? With that one
OOo incidentally saved as the last one after EXIT?

The Issue you raised is currently assigned to 'Requirements' pending review, but
has not been updated within the last 2+ years. Please consider re-testing with
one of the latest versions of OOo, as the problem(s) may have already been
addressed. Either use the recent stable version:

  This would would be even more useful with a tabbed interface.  If you close
with 5 or 10 documents open and it opens them all the next time you start the
program, that would save a lot more effort than going through -- File, Recent
Documents, <name-of-recent-document> -- just once.

  Its certainly handy when I have 15 tabs open in Firefox (like I do right now)
and close Firefox to shut down and take my laptop elsewhere.

  And it looks like 12686 addresses making a tabbed interface.
