Description jolatt 2002-05-25 13:10:27 UTC
According to the Ooo-Help the dropdown list should contain all OE address
fields for classing the OE address fields with the predefined Ooo address
fields.
The field "FAX (private)" seems to be missing whereas there are fields that
don't exist in OE, e.g. "user defined" 1-4.
Comment 1 Frank Schönheit 2002-06-06 08:05:10 UTC
changing component to dba, and QA contact accordingly. Address Book
Access is done in dba.

Josef, can you please be more specific what you are doing? What drop
down list are you talking about? I have an assumption, but it's not
really funny guessing what the submitter of a bug meant ....

I'm using the Oo in German.
The steps:
Open DATEI - DOKUMENTVORLAGE - ADRESSBUCH-QUELLE.
There comes a window: Vorlagen: Adressbuch-Zuordnung with
Datenquelle -> Adressen and Tabelle -> OE Kontakte

Below the "Feldzuordnung" with the fields of the Oo-adressbook.
for every field exists a dropdownlist, in which you can select the
relevant adressfield of Outlook Express, but not all ... (look first
comment)

The selection of the OE-adressfields is automatically. A manual
selection has no effect in "Datenquellen" selectable with F4.

so far my comment, hope you understand it, because my English isn't
so good.

Josef

Josef,

your english is fine :), thanks for contcretizing (does this english
word exist?) this.

Have to check what "FAX (private)" is expected to be mapped to for OE ....

Hi Josef, I can confirm that the fax attribute is an issue. Our
Address Book attributes are based on the Mozilla/Netscape attributes.
We appear to have mapped the Business Fax in Outlook Express to the
OOo Fax. Mozilla on the other hand, maps the Home Fax to Fax if an
entry exists otherwise it maps the Business Fax to Fax. Unlike
Outlook Express, there appears to be no separation of Home Fax and
Business Fax. I will investigate to see if this has been raised as an
issue in mozilla. In the meantime, as a minimum, I suggest that we
default to the same behaviour as mozilla.

Let me know if this is acceptable to you.

The 4 user defined fields or custom fields as they are known in
Mozilla have no mapping currently with Outlook Express.
Comment 7 john.marmion 2002-07-24 17:36:07 UTC
accepting this as a bug.

your attention :)

Hello John,

for my work the two fax-fields are important. If there is the option
to change this in future, I can (must) accept it.

Josef, I understand from your response that you would like us to
support both Business fax and Home fax. Firstly, you need to
understand that we access Outlook Express data using the mozilla
components. Thus we may need to raise this as an issue with Mozilla in
order for this to be fixed. I checked in Mozilla and there are no
bugs related to this specific issue but there are bugs calling for
better integration between Outlook/Outlook Express and Mozilla. But I
will
investigate this further.

One other minor issue is that Mozilla maps Business Fax to Fax in
Outlook and Home Fax to Fax in Outlook Express. OOo consistently maps
Business Fax to Fax. And as do we state that this is Fax and not Fax
(Home), it would appear that OOo is more correct.

Thus it might be more appropriate to mark this as an "Enhancement".

At the moment, we support Outlook/Express though Mozilla. Until
Mozilla adds this functionality or we re-design our Outlook/Express to
be independent of mozilla, then this will not be fixed. As such, I
believe this issue should be correctly categorized as an enhancement.
Comment 12 john.marmion 2002-08-21 09:21:30 UTC
marking this as accepted. However, I feel that this will not be
addressed in the short term.

>can we them simply mark this one here as duplicate of issue 4777?
Yes,I think we can. After finish works on hands,I can create a table to
list all missed fields in all modes(outlook express, outlook
OIL,outlook OCL).May be we can resolve them one-off. 4777,5272 and 9160.
