Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5277
can't enter Chinese with certain IMEs
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:00:48 UTC
Using Windows 98 with Global IME for Chinese (GB) and NJStar to enter Chinese. No problem with them when used with Office 2K. With OpenOffice.org 1.0, the Chinese options won't show on the IME menu when I am in OO with a cursor ready to enter Chinese in any OO application. When using NJStar to enter Chinese, I can only see garbled codes. These problems don't seem to occur on Windows 2000.
This is an l10n issue, not a lang issue. Reassigning. Also, lowering priority. louis

DL->SBA: Would you please takeover?
Joost->Jun: please check this again in the soon upcomping OOo 1.0.2 build. Several bugfixes regarding input method editors will be integrated into this version.
ES->SBA: IME + Win98...
SBA: On Win98, only the IMEs that the respective native system brings are supported. Therefore I changed the title slightly. "Other" IMEs sometimes have a different API that can only work with MS Office. This means that some IMEs work "by chance" with OO.org and others don't. This can't be fixed.
As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved duplicate issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
