Description schmidig 2005-08-02 09:11:07 UTC
Description of problem:
A user how loged in can work whit all programs. But when he try to work whit
openoffice, he can start the program and open a file. He can also past a texte
in a existing texte file or in a new texte file. But when he begin to write he
can write only _1_ letter and then the programm crash. He had the same problem

MRU->US: can you evaluate wether this is a Writer or a Framework issue? Thanks a
lot!
Comment 2 schmidig 2005-08-02 12:35:29 UTC
I think it is a framework problem. Openoffice crashes also in oocalc, impress ...
Comment 3 ulf.stroehler 2005-08-02 13:25:35 UTC
@submitter: could you pls. describe the environment in more detail.
e.g.
 * where is OO.o installed
 * how do the users access it
 * how are the user's home directories mounted
 * what parameters are used for nfs exports
 * is lockd running on server and clients
 * how are fonts distributed to the clients
 * what kind of linux installation is used for the server and for the clients
(LTSP?)

Could you provide a call stack of the crash e.g attach with gdb to a running
client instance (gdb - <pid> and typ continue) and force the crash by typing
something; than hit "bt" in gdb.
Pls. provid the call stack as attachment (!).
Thanks.

Comment 5 ulf.stroehler 2005-08-03 18:38:18 UTC
you don't seem to use stock openoffice.org provided build.
no support from here.
Pls. try http://download.openoffice.org/680/index.html
Comment 6 janvlug 2005-08-19 11:34:39 UTC
I experience the same problem using an openoffice build (m122) on Fedora 3.

us->cmc: the referenced bugzilla tasks is yours. Could you provide some insight
on this pls. Thx. Ulf.
Comment 8 caolanm 2005-08-20 20:20:05 UTC
haven't been able to reproduce this problem myself
Comment 9 caolanm 2005-08-27 19:25:11 UTC
hmm, issue 53850 is similiar, from that bug I suspect that the problem is libdb,
where OOo's copy is being picked up by nss_ldap or something similiar, for
fedora core version of OOo this depends on using system db which itself depends
on X. For "normal" OOo there wouldn't be a solution except statically linking
against libdb or changing the name of the library.
Comment 10 caolanm 2005-08-27 19:26:50 UTC
err, where X is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=153231
Comment 11 caolanm 2005-08-29 13:11:47 UTC
suspect that it's the same problem as issue 53850

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 53850 ***
Comment 12 caolanm 2005-08-30 09:30:13 UTC
ok, if deleting the db doesn't fix this, then...

janvlug , schmidig: you report the problem so can you provide a stack trace, ie.
on fedora install the openoffice.org-debugging rpm and run the program like

gdb /usr/lib/openoffice.org2.0/program/soffice.bin
(gdb) run -calc
when it crashes
(gdb) bt

and paste in the results. This is a difficult bug to reproduce for anyone else
who does not have nss_ldap in operation.
Comment 13 caolanm 2005-08-31 12:39:14 UTC
to get the debuginfo package for FC4

> yum install openoffice.org-debuginfo
Comment 14 caolanm 2005-11-29 11:18:17 UTC
does this still occur with recent testing fc4 update of
openoffice.org-2.0.1-0.141.3.1 ?
