Description mikael_lyngvig 2005-08-17 02:15:16 UTC
Please find attached an 8.5 MB Microsoft Word document which OO Writer hangs on
importing. OO Writer hangs towards the end of the import, when having imported
perhaps 90 percent. Perhaps this is due to a cross-reference table or something
similar.

I wanted to import solely for the sake of making a PDF file. I do not have
Microsoft Office so I cannot myself check and see why OO Writer hung.

The attached file should serve as an excellent test case for OO Writer: a huge
Microsoft Word document, possibly with complex structures embedded.

Sincerely,
Mikael Lyngvig

The import does not loop, it "just" needs its time to process the file. On my
machine, after a few minutes, the document opened in OO.
It looks, that the Table of contents (which is about 30 pages long) in the end
of the document needs a bit of time to be converted. We will have a look if the
performance there can be improved a bit.

I tested, and now I want to ditch my comment: I checked with 2.0 (1.9.m122)
German version WIN XP: [680m122(Build8941)], same result as per comments from

MRU->FLR: it looks like there might be a performance issue when importing those
large TOC's.
