Is this a dead module? It has been empty ever since I looked into the IDL reference, or will there really be 
interfaces in the future that belong to this module?

yes please fix it but don't use your patch. Please simply change the module name
from "package" to "packages" because it is simply a spelling error and the
module "packages" contains exactly the documented interfaces.

cyb->jsc: There is already a module named "packages" which has the description "Package file format 
interfaces.". Should I replace this description with the one of package module and delete the package entry 
then? If so, just assign back.

oh, i see i have probably overlooked the second entry. In this case please
simply remove the "package" entry and leave the "packages" entry untouched. Thanks

JSC: i have verified this docu changes in offapi on cws cyb1

I have adapted the target to OOo3.0 to bring this minor docu fix in the next
release. It would be nice to have it in OOo2.0.2 but the guideliness for product
updates doesn't allow this kind of fixes
