Description klas 2005-09-20 21:44:13 UTC
Document was kind of lost after adjustment of picture, since opening the doc
results in 100% load and Writer does not respond. Well, I managed to save it by
loggin out (resulted in a question if I wanted to save), loggin in again,
downloading the 1.1.5, opening it and saving to sxi format (after another
adjustment of the picture), reopening in 1.9.125, and then it works. The doc is
not public so I cannot put it on the web, but someone wanting to checking this
issue could mail me and get it. /Klas
PS, just to keep you aware: There are many more bugs than you think; when
working with Writer I find more more than one bug (or major deficiency) per
hour, and there is simply no time for reporting them all, and no use since the
quality is too bad. Well, reporting this one to see what happens.....
Comment 1 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-09-21 07:43:29 UTC
@ klas
We need a document and a step by step instruction to reproduce that problem,
otherwise we will have to close this issue INVALID.
Comment 2 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-09-21 09:08:48 UTC
I've got some test equipment from reporter (confidential content in test
document); I will check soon.
Comment 3 h.ilter 2005-09-21 10:23:52 UTC
Do we have a writer or a presentation issue here? Reporter has described about
"save to sxi format"
Comment 4 Rainer Bielefeld 2005-09-21 10:37:57 UTC
talking about '002hang.odt', that really causes a hang when I open.

Detailled test results later!
Comment 5 h.ilter 2005-09-21 11:07:05 UTC
HI->ES: Please take over, thanks.
Comment 6 klas 2005-09-27 10:38:02 UTC
Clarification to the question by hi on Sep 21 02:23:52 -0700 2005:
> Do we have a writer or a presentation issue here?
> Reporter has described about "save to sxi format"
Sorry, me typing the wrong thing; the document was saved to sxw format!
Comment 7 klas 2005-10-27 00:34:55 UTC
Last line of report above:
quality is too bad. Well, reporting this one to see what happens.....

Noticed:
Confirmed by rainerbielefeld Wed Sep 21 02:37:57 but left as unconfirmed and the
2.0 is released.

Conclusion:
No use reporting anything; this software is total crap and it will remain that
way....

Comment 8 eric.savary 2005-10-27 10:16:11 UTC
->rainerbielefeld: do you have the document? Please send it to me, thanx!

->klas: do you want to express your bad mood here or report bugs in a qualified
way? We care about bug reports when we have enough info to fix them.

Please stop writing such general useless statements:
"No use reporting anything; this software is total crap and it will remain that
way..."

Keep it simple a track the *facts*, please! Thanx! :)
Comment 9 h.ilter 2005-10-27 10:53:56 UTC
HI->klas: Feel free to use another software. For example where you have to pay
for it.
Comment 10 eric.savary 2006-05-19 17:51:35 UTC
Let's through this to dev0...

Trace of OpenOffice development:
1. Report of 100%CPU hang, repeatable. Document provided via mail.
2. Confirmed by rainerbielefeld Wed Sep 21 02:37:57 -0700 2005:
talking about '002hang.odt', that really causes a hang when I open.
Detailled test results later!
3. Later got never, OOo2 released, bug report left as unconfirmed.
4. Issue > /dev/null
Good progress towards fewer open issues; take a look at

Comment 13 eric.savary 2006-05-19 19:46:30 UTC
No loop or crash in last submittes file on win and lin.
Stays closed.
Comment 14 klas 2006-05-20 11:25:14 UTC
Problem remains in installable 2.0.3 as of today, tested on win2k. To let me
verify the correction, please tell when the built developer version should work.
(For big docs I have to switch to LaTeX for robustness, but OOo needed for
normal office stuff so I want to contribute.)
Comment 15 eric.savary 2006-05-22 08:36:05 UTC
ES->FLR: at last reproduced (also on Linux) with file found in comments from
Fri May 19 11:02:21 -0700 2006.
Load the document and wait a little bit or scroll down -> freeze.
I don't know if yours or OD's...

Comment 18 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2006-07-10 09:24:18 UTC
accepted.
It's a loop in the layout engine.

apply correct target.
Comment 19 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2006-07-10 09:27:05 UTC
forgot to apply correct target. ;-)
Comment 20 lfini 2006-09-14 12:54:50 UTC
I'm submitting a file (named oojam.odt) which appears to have the same problem
(under WinXP Sp2, tested on four different PC's): just load it and wait for a
while, and the soffice.bin process gets jammed with 100% cpu load. The very same
file is perfectly usable in OO 2.0.2 for Linux.

Comment 22 Rainer Bielefeld 2006-09-14 14:03:21 UTC
I tested 'oojam.odt' with "2.0.2 German version WIN XP: [680m5(Build9011)]" and
can confirm the problem. App 15 seconds after load OOo hangs.
No hang with "2.0.X WIN XP: [680m180(Build9056)]"

@all:

The sample file did not hang Mac OS X with the 2.0.3 final code.

Comment 24 utomo99 2007-01-31 03:05:15 UTC
can we close this ? as it is reported WFM
Thanks
Comment 25 jjmckenzie 2007-01-31 13:56:57 UTC
Closing issue as document is quite lengthy (372 pages) and may cause problems on
slow systems loading and displaying.
Was not possible to recreate problems with OpenOffice 2.0.4 and 2.1.

Comment 26 klas 2007-01-31 22:39:15 UTC
Still hangs with the progress doc (not the jam doc) on Win2k using 2.0.3, but
works fine on both Win2k and WinXP using 2.1. Additionally, on exactly the same
machine, it feels like there is a much better and more direct response during
layout operations. Apparently, improved and RESOLVED; Thanks!
Comment 27 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2007-02-01 09:23:58 UTC
Thus, I'm closing this issue.
