Description antiskid 2005-09-30 05:47:15 UTC
The kde office submenu does not contain the openoffice.org-2.0 items after
upgrading from OOo 2.0 beta to OOo 2.0 beta2, on Debian 3.1. Prior to
upgrading, the menu items were there, and labeled openoffice.org-1.9xxxx.

This is after installing the openoffice.org-debian-menus package using dpkg, as
well as all rpms in the top-level directory of the install tree (after
conversion by alien to debs).

just for the records:

inthe Officemenu ("Büroprogramme")...

This issue pertains to the 2.0-rc1 linux download, which unpacks into a
directory named OOO680_m1_native_packed-5_en-US.8958. The issue was not present
in the previous release, which was part of the 1.9 series. When opening the
issue, the latest release I could pick was beta2 - I think this must be
identical to rc1.

I can confirm this bug. This problem exists not only with KDE, but also with
GNOME and other freedesktop.org compliant menu systems, which use launchers
(.desktop files) from /usr/share/applications/

Problem is in changed folder name, where openoffice.org2 is installed. In
OOo2.0rc1 this folder is named /opt/openoffice.org2.0, but in
desktop-integration/openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.0.0-1_all.deb incorrect
symlink /etc/openoffice.org-2.0 exists, which points to nonexisting folder
/opt/openoffice.org2.0.0

So, there are very quick solution for this - simply change the symlink
"/etc/openoffice.org-2.0" (which is in
desktop-integration/openoffice.org-debian-menus_2.0.0-1_all.deb) to point to
correct current install folder - /opt/openoffice.org2.0

I think priority of this bug should be increased to P2, as "Functional area gets
lost" or "Basic functionality is not working correctly" - this bug is a
regression and simple user simply can't start OpenOffice.org in Debian GNU/Linux
based OS, because he simply can't find how to launch it - nor freedesktop.org
menu launchers ( .desktop files in /usr/share/applications/), nor debian menu
launchers (file /usr/lib/menu/openoffice.org-debian-menus is also incorrect - it
contains entries like command="%unixfilename -writer" instead of
command="/usr/bin/openoffice.org-2.0 -writer") work.

AFAIK target should be set to 2.0.0, because it is very simple to fix - by
simply changing the symlink (see above).

Please fix this bug in OOo 2.0RC2.
