Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5626
Allow Auto Caption left / right from from Math Formula Object
Last modified: 2014-06-03 04:35:52 UTC
Currently the auto caption feature allows two options for caption placement, above and below. Specially for equations in a text it is desirable to have the caption aligned on the same line at the far right next to the equation. It would be nice to include this option as well in future versions. Since I dont know if this should be formula editor related or auto caption related I post it under the formula editor. Thanks you guys, doing a good job out there!
It's really a writer issue. It's true, that you cannot do that with Insert - Caption; but there is a predefined AutoText in Writer: Choose Standard - FN Formula Numbering. (Or type FN as the first letters in a paragraph and hit F3).
Henrik, thanks for the tip, it does work as described. However the insert Formula is the usuall way one would put a new formula in the text so this should be in principle modified right? I would appreciate it if this could be reassigned to the proper component/developer. For know I propose to mark this issue as STARTED and leave it there for a future release. Commments are welcomed George
Reassigned to Bettina.
I have seen that there was no entry since June 2003. Does this problem also occur with a newer version of OOo (1.1.x or 1.9.x)? Or is it solved and can be closed by the original reporter?
It still is an annoyingly missing feature. There is no way to integrate formulas (with the formaula editor) in the common mathematical fashion.
.
Insert - Object - Formula Right click on formula - Caption... - AutoCaption... - Add captions automatically when inserting: OpenOffice Formula - OK - OK 1. Caption - Position is disabled on Below 2. Next formula object entered is shrinked and unreadable without a caption. Rev. 1491860 Win 7
Comment 7 No 2 seems to be something completely different, I will check that later ENHANCEMENT probably for all OS. Seems to be a Writer issue and not a math issue? Due to Workaround in Comment 1 I am not sure whether it is common sense that a fix will be done. Some more research and discussion required.
