Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 57100
WW8: text in vertical table cell is missing / misplaced
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
While trying to convert a friend from MS-Office to OpenOffice, I tried to import one of is newsletters. This is a 3 column landscape MS-Word document. I can't see how to attach it, but will supply as soon as requested. The import works ok in version 1.1.3 but fails in version 2.0. The third, right most column, has the text rotated 90 degrees. Columns 1,2 read left to right, and top to bottom. Column 3 reads from Bottom to Top and from left to right. Most of the text in column 3 is missing. I will supply MS-Word document on request.

This cannot work completly correct due to missing implementation in Writer core (issue 25140). But... MRU->FLR: in the right (vertical) table cell, the text is partly mispositioned and also some text is missing in this cell.

Maybe this is related trouble: When using the characte properties and the table properties to rotate text it is not even clear if that what is going on is right. successive lines are suddenly top-bottom flipped. There is no real understanding if this behaviour is intended, maybe also because of the UI and a missing preview. To me it looks weird!
