This bug isn't fixed in OOo 1.1 beta2 - I'm attaching screenshots of this document in StarCalc 5.2 for Windows and in OpenOffice 1.1 beta2 for Linux. You will see the differences - in OOo cyrillic symbols are displayed incorrectly :( Btw, same problems occure when opening StarWriter documents - should I report another bug on "word processor" component ? Please, fix this bugs before 1.1 final, OOo (StarOffice6) should import correctly documents of previous versions.

Sorry, but there was a mistake in my earlier evaluation. This issue is not fixable, there is only a workaround available. Here an excerpt from issue 15050 for Writer (same is valid for Calc): ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It's not a OOo bug but a "faked" Unicode implementation in SO 5.2. The .sdw format does not save Unicode characters but fakes them when a native font exist on the system. It does not save any encoding information. Now, OOo and SO are Unicode compatible and can't display the characters of those sdw documents because of this missing encoding information. Result: you won't be able to load correctly Russian (and I think in general east european) documents made with SO 5.2 in OOo. Workaround: to "rescue" your work anyway: - open the doc in SO 5.2 and save them as RTF OR - open the doc in SO 5.2 - copy the text - paste it in OOo as RTF ("Edit - Paste Special - RTF") --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Closed because could not be fixed
