Cross platform is a must as for all OOo products.
Java should in my opinion only be an option for the demonstrator, since it is
not accepted by many users.

Not choosing java or .net or something like that will make cross-platform
support more difficult as multiple binaries must be maintained and tested.

The only way to go cross-platform is to go the Java way.

Mono is far from being compatible IMO and it will remain as such as long as
Microsoft is the sole proprietary owner of the .NET platform, not allowing third
parties a/o the community to participate in the further development and
evolution of the platform. 

That being said, we will definitely go for Java for implementing the lot of the
OOPM components.

Scripting will allow for much more languages to be embedded into the solution,
and, we might even integrate the languages supported by the .NET CLR for
scripting purposes, provided that there exists a UNO scripting integration for them.

As for the, provably required native parts of the overall application, we will
be using cross-platform C/C++.
