Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5814
Allow commenting moderated messages
Last modified: 2003-12-06 14:52:32 UTC
Summary: When accepting moderated messages to a mailing list, it would be nice if it was possible to comment them the same way you can comment rejected messages, or if moderated messages had an automatic header indicating that they were moderated. On the Marketing list, we get a fair number of submissions of links and similar from non-subscribed OOo users. When I accept these submissions to the list, there is no way to indicate to the other list users that the e-mail is from a non-list member, and that they should send any replies directly to the sender. This causes a lot of confusion and extra list traffic. I can see 3 good ways to do this: 1. (Preferred) the current Accept/Reject message has this section for comments: You do not need to copy the post in your response to accept or reject it. If you wish to send a comment to the sender of a rejected post, please include it between two marker lines starting with three percent signs ('%'): %%% Start comment %%% End comment If it were possible that this comment would also be picked up for *accepted* messages and inserted into the post, it would be perfect. 2. If commenting poses technical challenges, how about an automatic header in moderated messages that reads: "This post was moderated. As such, it may be necessary to reply directly to the sender as they may not be subscribed to the mailing list." In both above cases, I think the insertion should go *above* the moderated post body, not in the footer, as many readers may not get to the bottom of the message before replying. 3. (least preferred) Have the listbot add (MODERATED) to the subject line of the moderated message. -Josh Berkus Lead, Marketing Project

As mentioned on the qa dev list on March 5th I will close all resolved <wontfix/duplicate/worksforme/invalid> issues. Please see this posting for details. First step in IssueZilla is unfortunately to set them to verified.
