Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 5883
spadmin: added fonts have incorrect ownership and permissions
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:53:51 UTC
L.S., * Short Description: Spadmin should perform a "chown root:root" and "chmod 0644" on all newly added fonts to ensure font access for all users. If users don't have read-permission to fonts in the OpenOffice font directory, OpenOffice crashes, hangs or has serious interface quircks (filed as a separate issue). * Long Description: 1) I used WS_FTP to upload fonts from my Microsoft Windows computer to my Linux computer. The fonts had the following permissions and ownership: -rw-r----- 1 wine wine 81000 Jun 1 14:58 WINGDING.TTF 2) I used spadmin as root to add the fonts to the OpenOffice.org1.0/share/fonts/truetype directory 3) When openoffice refused to work properly (crashes, hanging etc.) for other users then wine, I inspected the fonts-directory, and found the following: -rw-r----- 1 root wine 81000 Jun 1 15:00 WINGDING.TTF 4) I changed the ownership (chown root:root *.ttf *.TTF) and permissions (chmod o+r *.ttf *.TTF) in accordance with the permissions and ownerships of default OpenOffice fonts, and all worked fine again: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 81000 Jun 1 15:00 WINGDING.TTF Best Regards, Maarten Wijnen
