Description lars 2006-01-06 19:26:36 UTC
Hi,

I want to enter AA, Aa, aa in column A. However, the content in A2++ is always
corrected to the case-formatting of A1. So if I have AA in cell A1 and enter aa
or Aa in cell A2, this gets corrected to AA. I have AutoCorrect Options
Capitallize first letter of every word and Correct two initial capitals
disabled. Enabling them doesn't change anything with the problem however.

Could not confirm on OOo 2.01 winxp sp2.

I can disable tools-autocorrect-captilize first letters of every sentence, then
enter in column A the three rows you described.

Note that in each subsequent row, after you enter the first letter you get a
highlighted choice for the next letter. On my end I simply type over the
suggested letter.

Can reproduce with OOo 2.0.1 WinXP SP2.

Typing 'Test' in A1 there's no way to get 'TEST' in any A column cell...

Unchecking all AutoCorrect options do not help...

I think this is related with issue 2838 and/or issue 3349 but I'm not sure.

This occurs in OO Calc 2.0.1 on Win XP SP 1

Further characterizations of the bug:

1) Start a Calc document
2) Go to Tools->Options->Language Settings->Writing Aids
3) Uncheck all the boxes (Except IgnoreAllList, which I
   could not uncheck)
4) Go to Tools->Autocorrect
5) Unselect all the checkboxes on the second through
   fourth tabs

6) type 'test' in all small letters in A1. Hit enter
6a) Observe 'test' is changed to 'Test' (capital T)
7) type 'TEST' in all caps in A2. Hit enter
7a) Observe 'TEST' is changed to 'Test'

As stated earlier, autoformatting is still occuring.

I'm not sure if this is related or not, but it is
interesting:

8) Type 'test' in a5 (say)
9) Select cell a5 and select Format->Change Case->
   Upper Case
9a) Observe 'test' changes to 'TEST'
10) Select cell a6 and type 'test' in it
10a) Observe 'test' changes to 'TEST'
11) Select cell a6 and select Format->Change Case->
   Lower Case
11a) Observe 'TEST' changes to 'test'
12) Select cell a7 (say) and type 'test' in it
12a) Observe 'test' changes to 'TEST'

I would expect that after step 11 - where we switch from
upper case to lower case - that 'test' in step 12 would
stay in lower case.

Also,

13) If you close and restart Calc after completing
the steps above, all text entered (TEST, Test, etc..)
is converted to lower case. Presumably this occurs
because of the case change command in step 12.

Shouldn't this get P2 ?

Hi,

this is not a defect or a matter of Autocorrection, but a matter of Autoinput
which can be disabled under Tools-Cell Content - Autoinput.

And as this isn't a bug, this can't get Prio 2.

Hwoarang -> FST:
Thank you for the explanation, but I think that still a bug here...

Consider this:

With Autoinput on:
Type test in A1
Type TEST in A2

As I typed the full word (no a part of it as T, TE or TES) I'm not using the
Autoinput's suggestion, so I'm not expecting to get test.
The expected behavior to Autoinput is to get the word completed not changed.
Got what I meant ?

What do you think ?

Thank you.
