Description thepianoguy 2006-01-11 18:50:19 UTC
I was editing my document (school notes) using OOo 2.0, specifically, changing
the width of the fields of a table (setting them to optimal width, finalising
some stuff). Then OOo started to blink (formatting and wasn't able to layout
something properly?) more and more frequently. It annoyed me, so I closed the
session and reopened the document.

If opened in OOo 2.0, it freezes after the document is opened. I also installed
2.0.1 then and it crashes immediately upon opening the document. I marked as P1
because there is data loss around (I have a few days old copy though, so nothing
serious on my side).

Using openoffice.org-2.0.0-5 from Debian unstable and then
openoffice.org-2.0.1-1 from Debian experimantal.

The document can be obtained at http://193.95.242.3/tmp/OTI-vaje.odt .

Debian experimental's OOo 2.0.1 crashes when opening some other documents too,
so the crash is not related to this document only. But I still cannot open the
document in 2.0. Can anyone else confirm this?

OOo 2.0.1 on Windows XP Pro SP2 hangs after opening the document, so confirmed.

I found out that waiting for a few minutes, OOo starts to respond. So it
actually works, but the formatting (am I thinking correct?) takes so much time,
especially when only clicking on a graph placed on a first page (which should be
at the end somewhere).

I remember switching from print->web layout and then back to print. Maybe this
is the case?

Reassigned to ES.
Comment 5 jack.warchold 2006-02-01 13:04:54 UTC
the document is not crashing. but i confirm the long waiting time while editing and
the flickering on the last page, like the formating could not find an end, you could
not reach the end of the document it will allways jump up some lines. in
SCR_m154 there ist a large empty space after the last content
cpu consumption on editing will be 100% for minutes.

tested with SRC680_m132, SRC680_m145 and SRC680_m154 and SO7PP5

changed summery: performence issue: long waitingtimes and cpu consumption
while editing special document.
lowered Prio to P3
Changed Target to OOo later
reassigend to OD

Another, a bit newever version of the document:
http://193.95.242.3/tmp/OTI-vaje2.odt

First, the document is blinking all the time and second print-preview crashes
OOo (or maybe you have to wait for 10 minutes+). Using OOo2.0.1-2 under Debian
unstable.
