Description Unknown 2002-06-22 21:45:42 UTC
Downloaded current (1st week of June) OpenOffice.
Installed on WinXP Pro without a hitch. Noticed some minor file glitches that
have to do with Office2000. Nothing major though. Then copied donwloaded
file onto a CD, to install open office on my WinME backup machine.
WinMe had Star Office 5.2 on it - which I deleted first. Then rebooted.
After reboot, attempted to install OpenOffice.
The setup screen appeared. When I clicked on NEXT, the following error
appeared in a small window: Setup has caused an error in SVT641MI.DLL
I could also duplicate this by clicking on the HELP button, when I attempted
to install after yet another reboot. Problem is more than likely NOT related
to Windows specifically, since I could not find any reference to SVT641MI.DLL
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. The WinME backup machine does not, and did
not, have any version of Microsoft Office on it - as did my WinXP system.

The installatin problem was directly related to having zipped or
compressed all of the previously unzipped files once again, and then
copying the single file onto a CD, in order to save space.
1. Space saved was insignificant.
2. Copying the entire program/installation onto a CD for future use
without doing anything else to the files - caused them to work on
both of my backup systems, from the CD, without a problem. One of
these is an XP Pro Computer, and the other one is a WinME machine.
Apparently there is an issue with the installation files that won't
permit the user to RE-compress or zip them up again? At least not
if you plan on re-extracting that archive for use on another machine.
