The help screen only wants to print A4 size paper, not letter paper and nothing
can be done to make it print letter size.

Does this problem still exist in OOo 1.0.3 or even better 1.1RC?

If it does, please tell us.

Unfortunately I do not understand what your problem is:
- Really Website of OOo or OOo integrated HELP?

can you print on letter with other software ? 
if you can please try to update your printer driver.
