Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 60890
Postgresql ODBC access with Base
Last modified: 2006-05-31 14:29:06 UTC
System is WinXP on Dell Inspiron 8500 w/1GB ram. I open a postgresql database, ver 8.01 using Postgresql ODBC driver ver 8.00.01.02. I see the table and the queries shown underneath the table. I can view the query data, but when I try to view the table itself, I get SQL Status: 24000 [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Invalid cursor state So Base is unuseable for what I want to use it for. I can do the same with MSAccess, and it works fine as is PGAdmin III.
Forgot to mention, I have the same database on a Suse linux 10.0 machine and on the winxp machine. Same ODBC driver for both, same problem for both. Art
clu->afore: yes, that is really annoying - but this looks like a driver problem - may you try this alternative driver: http://dba.openoffice.org/drivers/postgresql/index.html#install_2.0 and acknowledge my guess thx
does this 'fix' your problem?
The sdbc driver does work and I can access and modify the database with it. ODBC driver still does not work with Base though. Since I am using Base to update the database which is accessed with an application that only uses ODBC, it will work fine. Thanks for the info.
I tested the uno package and it worked perfectly with PostgreSQL 8.1.2. I can view tables, queries made with OOo and views created with CREATE VIEW AS on the psql commandline, but still encountered some hickups with creating forms with the form wizard. Only when accepting the defaults it works. All other form layouts cause OOo to crash.
issue will not be fixed because it seems to be a driver problem outside oo
clu->simonaw: please do not mix different cases or add further topics - if anything else does not work for you, please write a seperate issue with a repro step by step description see: http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/basic_rules.html thx
