I am not entirely sure I'm sending this to the right people, so please feel 
free to forward this to the appropriate branch.

I am just wondering if you do have a version with PDF filters, and where I can 
obtain such a copy as I've downloaded the current version off of the website, 
and it doesn't want to save files as PDF's or print them (there aren't any such 
options whatsoever). Is one in the works?

 you will have to obtain your own PDF filters, and use spadmin to 
integrate them. there are a few opensource and/or freeware 
applications, such as ghostview, that do this. check in the 
users@openoffice.org list for more info.
