Description Frank Schönheit 2006-02-22 14:17:18 UTC
In the testtool, you currently cannot really tell whether a test is currently
running except by
- waiting for some output in the log window
OR
- looking whether the "Program/Run" menu item is enabled or disabled

This is inconvenient. Please add some indicator (perhaps in the status bar?) for
whether or not the program is currently running. Ideally, this indicator would
also allow to quickly access the Break and/or Stop functionality.

note: The problem described here might not be much of a problem if you know the
test you're running - i.e., if you wrote it.
However, as a developer, I from time to time get bug reports which tell me to
run a certain test with testtool, and I never know when it's finished, since I
never ran the test before.
This is especially annoying because the OOo process grabs the UI, and thus makes
working with the whole machine impossible as long as the test is running. So I
find myself constantly sitting in front of the machine, and guessing whether I'm
allowed to touch anything (since the test finished) or whether I must still just
sit and watch (since the test is still running). This is tedious.

the titlebar of the testtool window states [run] while running and [break] while
in debug mode.

If no program is running nothing is displayed

Does that help?

Meanwhile I've been taught this "look into the titlebar" .. Still I don't
consider this state-of-the-art :), but well ....
