Description jenserikweber 2006-02-23 18:36:59 UTC
unopkg from the command line crashes when you try to install the UNO package of
writer2latex, an export filter for exporting to Latex or XHTML+MathML, with
./unopkg gui. Also the command line version crashes with "abort trap". When you
choose the Package Manager from the OOo Tools menu, OOo crashes after selecting
w2lfilters20.zip.

Versions of writer2latex 0.4 final and 0.4.1a

It works with OOo 1.1.4 for Mac OS X and partially with NeoOffice 1.2 (exported
XHTML+MathML documents are empty). But the UNO packages are different for OOo 1.1.*.

Eric:

Do you know anything about this package? Also, can we get openstep off of the
assign person for Mac OS X problems and you on?

Thank you for reporting this issue. We first will try to reproduce it.

ericb->jjmckenzie

I still have no idea, sorry. One reported a similar problem using unopkg too. Investigating ...

I would say that unopkg crashes regardless of the package you are trying to
install, and even if you are not installing a package.

On m168, PPC EN-US build on MacOS 10.4.6, I can crash unopkg (and OpenOffice) by
simply clicking on the '+' next to "My Packages". Trying to add a package also
causes it to crash.

Comment 6 eric.bachard 2006-05-13 16:55:43 UTC
As you can see with attached sccreenshot, no problem for me, with wtriter_to_latex041 installation on Mac
OS X (Mac Intel) but ... how use it ? :)

Comment 7 etiffany 2006-05-13 17:20:16 UTC
Could it be an Intel vs. PPC issue? As I noted previously, simply clicking on
the '+' next to My Packages causes OOo m168 to crash (as does attempting to add
a package, in my case extendedPDF.zip).
Comment 8 eric.bachard 2006-05-13 17:36:13 UTC
ericb->etiffany

extendedPDF installed fine for me (version 1.3 if I'm not wonrg.

Again, Mac Intel .. I'll try on PowerPC (Tiger curretnly)
Comment 9 eric.bachard 2006-05-13 17:45:38 UTC
Mac OS X 10.4.4 / Powerbook

Issue confirmed : extendedPDF install makes OpenOffice.org 1.9.165 crash on PowerPC

Looks like Mac Intel version works better than PowerPC ?
Comment 10 eric_openoffice 2006-05-14 07:55:16 UTC
Using my latest M167 on Mac OS X 10.4.6 PowerPC I'm able to install and use the
writer2latex.uno.pkt filter and extended pdf.

So where's the difference between my builds and the other builds that crash?

Added myself as CC
Comment 12 etiffany 2006-05-14 12:55:00 UTC
Hmm, I've had this problem on every 2.0.x build for PPC.

Perhaps it has to do with a corrupt package registry -- got corrupted with
earlier version, and corruption is now hosing the m168 versions that ericb and I
are using. I guess the only way to test this is to move my
~/Library/Application Support/OpenOffice 2.0 folder aside, and start with a
clean slate.

The other option is that m167 works, and m168 re-introduced the bug for PPC.
Comment 13 etiffany 2006-05-14 13:13:26 UTC
OK, so I moved my OOo 2.0 folder out of ~/Library... and got slightly different
results.

I was able to open PackageManager and click the '+' (previously, this caused OOo
to crash instantly). Then I added the extendedPDF.zip package, and OOo crashed.

Upon restarting OOo, clicking the '+' in Packagemanager gives instant crash.

Looking at the data in the uno_packages (in ~/Library/Application
Support/OpenOffice.org 2.0/user ) seems to indicate that the package was
expanded and partially installed, but evidently not completely or successfully.
Comment 14 etiffany 2006-05-14 13:43:31 UTC
I also tried different Java VMs -- 1.5 and 1.4.2 -- and it still crashed exactly
as before. Also attempted install of writer2latex package, which crashed the
same way. Again, this is with m168 PPC EN-US build.
