Description paulli 2006-03-06 13:57:52 UTC
Dear developers.

I propose that it is given priority to reduce the pull on system ressources of
the program. Meaning more prompt startup time and - when not in use more
ressources free for other purposes. I use a 450MHz/128MB RAM machine, and my
experience is that the OOo suite is too heavy for that. To me that is a
limitation.

Maybe a more modular program structure would do ? Or better integration between
subcomponents ? I would highly appreciate progress on such technical front
before new graphics for the icons, Please.

increasing the performance is on the permanent todo-list anyway. We don't need
an issue for that.

If you have a concrete proposal (not question) on how to increase performance,
then go ahead and file a new issue detailing that proposal.

But please real proposals with some background-info, not only "modularize it".
OOo already is modularized extend. You're prbably meaning "Duplicate code", make
each application standalone. This is a totally different thing and again doesn't
deserve an issue since that is a wontfix anyway.

feel free to use the mailing-list(s) to discuss general ideas/approaches on
increasing performance.

IssueZilla is reserved vor *concrete* proposals (preferably with patch).

closing.
