Description mgichoga 2006-03-15 15:47:31 UTC
I had a student save an impress file and now it cannot open. The error is

General Error.
General input/output error

I'm using openoffice 2.0, I've searched on the internet but all suggested
solutions do not work. I can upload the file if need be.
Comment 1 wolframgarten 2006-03-16 07:50:07 UTC
Yes please, would be nice if you could attach the document. Did you try already
the latest 2.0.2? Thanks in advance.
Comment 2 mgichoga 2006-03-16 13:55:46 UTC
Yes, I tried the newest openoffice. BTW is there a link I can use to upload the
files in question or should I send via e-mail.

You can use the Attachment-link right under the keywords section.
Comment 4 wolframgarten 2006-03-16 14:02:17 UTC
Reproducible with 2.0 final and a current 2.0.2. Reassigned.

Second corrupted file
Comment 7 wolframgarten 2006-03-16 14:10:18 UTC
Looks like the files are totally broken. If I setup a new, empty file it has
10kb. These files show a size of 2kb.
I wonder what the students did right before saving.
Comment 8 mgichoga 2006-03-16 14:14:30 UTC
That was my initial thought too. It must have probably been saved partially. At
least I know it was not a problem with Oo.
Comment 9 clippka 2006-03-16 14:21:24 UTC
documents are completly borken, nothing I can do here. We need to know how to
reproduce the save step
Comment 10 mgichoga 2006-03-16 19:37:16 UTC
These documents were saved in my absentia, however I'm told that the computer in
which they were in kept hanging which would explain this behavior
Comment 11 wolframgarten 2006-03-17 08:12:49 UTC
Sorry, if we cannot reproduce this or have a description how to do it there is
no way we can fix this. If this was really an office problem.
If you find a way of reproducing this please feel free to reopen the issue. Thanks.
