Description dukenude 2006-03-26 09:53:43 UTC
Hi,
when opening an Excel-File, comments/notices are out of the seen screen, so I
hava to set "show notice" and scroll one minute!!!
When opening in Excel again, everything is okay.
greetings
Markus

Hi,

opened the file with Excel and selected show note on some cells. The notes are
placed outside of the viewable screen. So the position of the note is saved in
the file. Opened the file with Calc and the notes are placed exactly at the same
position as in Excel. So no defect from Calc.

Hi,
but in the original Excel-File, the comments/notes are placed viewable on the
screen. Then, when saving in Calc and opening in Excel again, the positions
are lost! Just tried it.
Greetings

Is the attached file the original Excel file or a saved by Calc file ?

If it's from Calc, please attach the original one.

Now I added the original Excel.
When I opened it in Calc and saved it as Excel yesterday and reopened in
Excel, some note/comment-positions have been lost.
Greetings
Markus

Hi,

opened the second attachment with OOo and Excel. Selected cell O24 in both cases
and switched on Show Note. In both cases the note displayed far away. So the
Calc import works as designed and reflects the currently set position of the
Excel notes. No bug and therefore closed again invalid.

Our users have the same problem that Markus wasn't very successful in
explaining. The problem is where the note is displayed when hovering with the
mouse, not when activating "Show Note". Excel displays the note on the visible
part of the screen in any case when hovering with the mouse, even if the note is
defined to be off the screen. Calc, however, displays the note off the screen if
that's where it was placed when adding the note. You can see this in cell O24 of
both attached files. Whether this is a bug or not is arguable, however Calc does
not behave like Excel in this case, and many users view this as an error. Please
re-open the issue.

Hi Frank,

please comment on this one and proceed as needed. Daniel can help as this is his
construction site.

Looks like someone named Frank asked someone else named Frank to comment on this
and to "proceed" over a month ago. Our users keep bugging me about this, so I'd
love to see Frank comment and proceed. Thanks.

Any progress on this issue? Just tested in version 3.0 and the problem still
occurs. Thanks.

This issue appears to be fixed in OOo 3.1, at least to me. Removing my vote.
