Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 63998
Style Catalogue gone?! No... it is Ctrl-F11
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:38:26 UTC
_Type_ is *re-placement* of feature, actually! I come here instead of StarOffice Site - apparently useless. I am very dismayed to see the scrapping of the Style catalogue -- a long-standing, excellent featrue, I submit and one thing lost that we had come to rely on! PLEASE PUT THIS BACK, URGENTLY. Reason: Many people must have come to use this by strong habit, and now they are thwarted in this; the Stylist works differently. I am sorry: This seems most like Microsoftian bullying (dictating how we do things now, after Stardivision had established a wonderful design)!
The style catalog could still be reached - via Ctrl-F11. MRU->ES: is it "specced" somewhere, that it has been removed from the menu?
Th style catalog is gone due to: http://specs.openoffice.org/writer/formatting/Assigning_Styles_in_Writer.sxw Line 176: "Future of the modal dialog “Style Catalog†is unclear" Because all the functions it used to have have been grouped in the Stylist or in "File - Templates - Organize" ES->Requirements: I don't see any valuable reason to have this dialog back (redundant with other existing functions and as noticed, this is a *modal* dialog blocking user input to all other windows in the program and especially the document). On the other hand, the spec didn't clearly give a statment on this. In cas we cancel this dialog, we should also remove its shortcut (Ctrl+F11).
