Description mdxonefour 2006-04-10 11:24:44 UTC
Please implement a mechanism to automaticly check for availability of updates to
notify users.

This mechanism should only run in case there already is an online connection
present. This is to prevent users to be asked to open an online connection just
because the Office tries to find out the presence of new updates.

What kind of updates and from where to download/install ?
OOo stable release builds ?
Developer builds ?
Some kind of patches ?
New major versions of OOo ?

No spec - no feature, sorry.

Can we reopen this feature request. This would be very cool.

OS: Linux, Windows, Mac (do we have a Mac port?)

What kind of updates and from where to download/install: updates/patches that
would for example update OOo 2.0.2 to 2.0.3 and so on; updates would come from a
repository.

OOo stable release builds: yes

Developer builds: no (or maybe?? -optional :) )

Some kind of patches: incremental patches instead of downloading the whole setup
from scratch

New major versions of OOo: incremental like 1.1 to 1.2; 2.0.2 to 2.1.4; 3.0 to
3.0.1 etc. Not 2.x to 3.x as this would be too much to ask.

One could maybe use Firefox's incremental online update mechanism as a starting
point for this feature.

Can this be reopened, or should I open a new bug/issue/feature request?

Thanks.
