Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 64838
Add Latin_Vatican (la_VA) locale data
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:01:25 UTC
I copy/paste the conversation we had Eike and me (Philippe, login: drouizig) about this topic: On Fri, Mar 03, 2006 at 09:58:05 +0100, K. an Drouizig wrote: > > Finally I've been able to create a Latin Spell Checker for > > OpenOffice.org 2.0 (based on the Verba word base provided by > > Marjorie). > > I did have to create a locale la_VA.xml (latin/Vatican), and build it > > with our own Breton OO.org version (based on 2.0.2). > > See attached screenshot (the interface is in Breton, but we also > > provide the French/English language packs). I think you're mixing up two things: the locale assigned to a portion of text, available within the character attribution's font dialog, and the locale data that is necessary to be able to choose a locale as the default document locale, which your screenshot showed. Even without locale data Latin is available for character attribution, and if applied spell checking should work. > > Could you please clarify this again: I have not been able to allow > > this spell checker integration without adding the latin/Vatican > > locale. Note that currently Latin's ISO code mapping is only "la", with no region associated, so your spell checker should also only use la, and not la_VA. I agree however, that the region should be included and the ISO code mapping should be la-VA instead, which would also allow to provide a correct la_VA.xml locale data file. Please file an issue to change the ISO code mapping from la to la-VA and assign it to me ('er') Thanks Eike drouizig: Locale is attached.

The build of this locale (la_VA.xml) has been checked and we already provide a personalized build of OpenOffice.org (based on 2.0.2) that includes it: cf. http://www.drouizig.org/Skeudennou/BepSeurt/latinsc3.gif Philippe
Hi Philippe, You're most lucky that you submitted this one day before code freeze and that I still had a CWS open to add it and shove it in between.. Note that the format codes you copied from Italian it_IT locale don't work properly with this locale, in particular the date formats are broken. Italian is one of the few locales that had its keywords localized, new locales don't have that and alway use English keywords, see also http://l10n.openoffice.org/i18n_framework/LocaleData.html I also corrected the LANGID used in the format codes from 0x0410 to 0x0476 and adapted the currency settings and assigned the proper Unicode symbol for the Italian Lira and introduced the corresponding legacy currency to be able to import the old >L.< symbol from already existing spreadsheet documents your personal version may have written. In CWS locales203 Already changed the ISO code mapping for LangId 0x0476 from "la" to "la-VA". i18npool/inc/i18npool/lang.h 1.2.2.1 i18npool/source/isolang/isolang.cxx 1.2.2.1 i18npool/source/localedata/localedata.cxx 1.38.14.5 i18npool/source/localedata/data/la_VA.xml 1.1.2.1 i18npool/source/localedata/data/localedata_euro.map 1.14.18.1 i18npool/source/localedata/data/makefile.mk 1.32.18.4 Eike
Eike, Thank you very much for all these fixes, I was not expecting to see the fix with OOo 2.0.3...! Cheers, Philippe
