Description royalozma 2002-07-20 13:12:24 UTC
Here is the problem:

1. Open up a new text document.
2. Type in "news<ctrl+'-'>pro<ctrl+'-'>gram"
3. Press <ctrl+home>
4. Open up the search/replace dialog
5. Enter in "newsprogram" as the search enquiry.
6. Click on "Find".

Now the program refuses to find "newsprogram" in the document.

But you enter in "news<*>prog<*>ram", the Search/Replace will find the
hyphenated "newsprogram" message.

I would like a GUI option to make Search/Replace to "ignore soft hyphens",
because it prevents me from finding words regardless of hyphenation.

Also, I can find that one can use Search/Replace to hyphenate words (without
custom dictionaries/hyphenator) by:

1. Open up search/replace
2. Enter in the unhyphenated form as "Search for"
3. Type in the hyphenated form under "Replace With"
   a. See <*> for information on how to insert the soft-hyphens.
4. Check on "Whole Words Only" & "Match case"
5. Click on Replace All.

<*> Press <ctrl+shift+s> then select character 0x00AD, click on "Okay", &
reposition the cursor by pressing <end>. The program has a "bug" which causes
<ctrl+'-'> to insert 0x002D minus/hyphens instead of 0x00AD soft hyphens inside
dialog boxes. Also, <ctrl+shift+s> is not bound to "Special Characters" for use
outside the dialog boxes.
