Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 66035
Bibliography tables do not export cleanly to .doc
Last modified: 2006-06-13 09:51:19 UTC
A document wontaning bibliography tables can not be exported cleanly to .doc : - OO.o wraps bibliography tables word does not - the resulting index can not be manipulated in word
It is not a bug, that the index cannot be edited in Word - it is a feature! Indexes in Writer are write-protected by default and this will be correctly exported to MS Word. The write-protection can be removed in Writer in the index dialog. In Word you can do this via Tools.Document protection. What do you mean by "OO.o wraps bibliography tables". What is a wrapped "Table of contents"? Maybe attach a sample document (native Writer .odt format) which shows that.
OO.o will wrap a generated line of content of a bibliography index if it's longer than the text area width. Word will not - so it's very easy to create an index which will overflow in the margin (and out of the page) when exported to .doc and read in word. Just look at the number of fields in a bibliography entry - looong lines are the rule, not the exception
Now I understand. This problem is known. Tabs are used to position text/numbers in index tables. Due to issue 44539 these are handled differently in Word and Writer when they are outside text area. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 44539 ***
