Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 67839
double-quotes added around a field incorrectly show two left double-quote marks
Last modified: 2006-07-27 23:44:15 UTC
Inserting double-quote marks around a field results in two 'left double-quote' marks, rather than the expected 'left double-quote' mark before the field, and a 'right double-quote' mark after the field. To recreate: 1) Insert->Fields->date (for example) 2) Position cursor 1 position immediately before the field 3) Press SHIFT+2 (on my UK keyboard) to produce a double-quote mark 4) Position cursor just beyond end of field 5) Press SHIFT+2 to produce another duoble-quote mark 6) Observe that the double-quote mark before the field correctly shows as a 'left double-quote' mark (ie U+201C in Unicode parlance) 7) Observe that the double-quote mark after the field is incorrectly shown as another 'left double-quote' mark, when it should be shown as a right double-quote mark (U+201D in Unicode) Graphically, you get something like this: ``27/07/06`` ~~ \ wrong! ...when you _should_ get this: ``27/07/06'' ~~ \ correct! This problem only affects fields and cross-references: placing double-quotes around a word or phrase works correctly. FYI, I'm using Fedora Core 5 (FC5) with comprises the following OOo packages: openoffice.org-calc-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-core-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-draw-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-graphicfilter-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-impress-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-javafilter-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-langpack-es-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-math-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-pyuno-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-testtools-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-writer-2.0.2-5.16.2 openoffice.org-xsltfilter-2.0.2-5.16.2 Thanks for reading!
